Preparing Clinical Faculty at the Institute for Educators

The Preparing Clinical Faculty program, developed by the University of Maryland School of Nursing Institute for Educators, is designed to build Maryland's vital clinical nursing faculty competencies and capacity. All current and future clinical instructors are invited to participate in workshops where they learn tools to be successful clinical instructors and additionally earn 13.5 contact hours of continuing nursing education free of charge. After completion, participants who are eligible to take the NLN's CNE-CL exam, and who do so successfully, may receive a one-time $1,000 award through the program. This program serves to increase certified clinical nursing faculty in Maryland by removing barriers for clinical instructors, many of whom work part-time and thus do not qualify for the academic CNE or ANEC award for full-time faculty.
