The Maryland Action Coalition (MDAC) was created as part of the national Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action, inspired by the Institute of Medicine’s landmark Future of Nursing report. Now operating as an independent statewide initiative, MDAC continues to champion the advancement of nursing in Maryland by fostering innovation, strengthening education, and building sustainable academic-practice partnerships.
MDAC focuses on three core objectives: (1) examining strategies to advance the educational preparation of nurses; (2) exploring innovative approaches to expand clinical practice knowledge and skills; and (3) promoting academic-clinical partnership models that contribute to a healthier Maryland.
The objective of the Maryland Action Coalition (MDAC) is to identify innovative ways of collaborating that advance nursing excellence to prepare nurses to lead in any health care setting. The three pillars of the coalition’s focus are:
Nursing Leadership
Nursing Workforce
and Nursing Retention.
Each year, MDAC convenes healthcare leaders, educators, students, practitioners, and innovators from across the nation, to collaborate, exchange ideas, and drive progress in nursing and health care.
